When it comes to action packed and amazing looking sports there are few more visceral and exciting to watch than free running or parkour. The basic concept in case you’ve been living under a rock is to use a city or town as essentially an urban assault course by leaping between buildings, flipping over cars and diving through railings in order to maintain a ‘flow’ from one object to a next. There are some philosophical aspirations, but essentially it’s about looking amazing and it’s no wonder that Hollywood has become such a fan of the activity featuring it in films like Casino Royale and Die Hard 4.
What this also tells us is that parkour looks amazing on film, so if you enjoy doing parkour already then you have a great opportunity to capture some amazing action packed images. The only problem is, how do you go about getting photos of something that’s so fast moving and dynamic? Here we will look at some tips that can help.
A little help from your friends
First of all, this isn’t something you’ll be able to do entirely yourself. If you want to get some great images of yourself in action then you’re going to want to have a friend or a helper come and take the photos for you so that they can get you from an outside angle as you fly through the air, flip from pillar to post or generally twirl like Spider-Man through the environment. Make sure they have a great camera and that they know what they’re doing with a camera.
The camera
When it comes to choosing a great camera you want to make sure that it’s high definition in order to capture crisp and sharp images of the environment, and that it isn’t liable to blurring which of course is a real danger when your subject is so fast moving.
At the same time you also need to bear in mind that there’s a very limited window of opportunity when it comes to capturing these great shots. For that reason there are some features that can really help your camera to perform in the situation – for instance using a camera with a rapid burst feature so that you can get action shots, or even just having a high definition camcorder so you can choose and freeze particular stills from it.
For something a bit different you should consider using a GoPro HERO camera. There are all kinds of models here such as the ‘GoPro HERO2 Motorsports Edition HD Camera‘, but any of them will work by attaching to a helmet or a bag and that way enabling you to get a first person view of the action in stunning HD. This way you can film some action without needing someone standing by to handle it for you.
The composition
There are many tips that you can use to make your action shots really pop, but generally it’s important to just take time considering all the elements. This means following lines to create depth and height, using foreground elements to give a 3D feeling or framing the shot in more interesting ways. Of course this will be down to your photographer, but it may be worth just having a word with them before letting them loose…
Oh and of course you also need to pull off some amazing stunts yourself!

If you’re throwing an event or function then this can be an exciting but highly stressful occasion. Of course on the one hand you will be throwing an event where you’re likely to invite only people you like and where you’ll be able to call the shots which means that in theory it will be a night tailor made for you. Likewise if you’re throwing a do in order to celebrate a business then you will probably be doing so because it in some way benefits your business which of course is another reason to be please.
At the same time though all this also means that everything is on you and that if things go wrong – you will be the one held responsible and it will be your reputation that lies in tatters. Meanwhile this of course means that you will have a lot to organize and you will not be getting much downtime until all that’s done.
There are many things to consider for any kind of event and it can all get a bit much – unless you know precisely what you need to do and can work through it in a systematic manner. Here is a checklist for the most important considerations at any kind of event be it corporate or celebratory…
The Venue
The venue is one of the most important considerations for any event because it will set the scene (literally) for all your other decisions. This will dictate how many visitors you can have at your event, and it will also influence the way you decorate and the activities you have room for. Of course in choosing the location you also need to think of the area and location that will be most convenient for your guests.
Decorations
In some cases the party venues you choose will be fine as-is and that means you don’t have to worry about decorations. In other cases though you will need to add a little bit of personal flare to those spaces which might mean renting flowers or installing some kind of centre piece.
The Guest List
Once you know what your environment is going to be like and its limitations you can start to assemble a guest list. This is crucial to a good event – because without guests you would have no occasion. Likewise you need to have a mixture of the right people to ensure all goes well.
Timing
You know who’s coming, and you know where they’re going – but the missing piece of this puzzle is of course when. Make sure your timing is convenient but also conducive to people relaxing.
Food
Food is also highly important of course. This is something that can make or break an event and if it’s good then people will be sure to enjoy themselves no matter what else follows.
Drink
Drink is a great social lubricant for a party or social gathering, but in business it can also be useful for helping people to chat and network. In general the right amount of good quality alcohol can make people enjoy themselves no matter the occasion.
Music
Finally music is important for ambience. Even if you can’t get a live performance or the like, make sure you give proper time and consideration to the kind of music you play.

When you get a brand new car it can feel like giving birth to a new baby. This becomes your pride and joy, your world, and you will do everything you can to look after it. However when you have then had your car for more than a couple of days suddenly you start to fall back into old habits. Plans to clean your car every couple of days go out the window, and no longer do you inch around corners as carefully as if you had a bomb on board. Once again you begin driving too fast, you begin slamming on the breaks and you start to over rev the engine. This is partly why our cars don’t stay looking so pristine and new for long, but it’s also why we often have problems and need to call in mechanics to help us out of a pickle on a regular basis.
The compromise situation is to drive carefully in such a way that you’re not going to place too much of a toll on your car. You don’t need to wash it every day and you can still treat it like a normal vehicle, but just practicing a little more caution may be enough to keep it in better shapes.
Here are some tips that will help your car to last longer…
Avoid Gravel Tracks: Gravel tracks are no fun for cars, especially those that are covered in big pot holes and large stones. These will make you much more likely to get a burst tire or a cracked windshield, and at the same time they will wear out your suspension a lot faster. The solution is to simply plan your journeys ahead, and where possible try to avoid going too far off of the tarmac. If you have the option of two routes, it’s better to take slightly longer but keep your car in better shape.
Drive Further Back: Particularly when on gravel tracks, but actually in any situation, it is advisable to try to hang back from the cars in front. We all know by now that this is a smart way to avoid an accident because it gives us longer to react, but even if there’s no accident this can also help to keep our vehicles in better shapes because we won’t be getting all of the debris from the car in front in our face. Again this makes a chipped windshield much less likely.
Be Kind to the Clutch: The clutch works by disengaging the cogs that drive your car forward so that you can change gears and alter your speed. This is very important because if you don’t disengage the gears first they will try to lock together while they’re moving and this will cause problems in your gear box. Make sure that you put your foot firmly on the clutch before you try to change gears.
Brake Less: Your brakes wear out over time too, and if you use them too much then of course this is going to happen faster. By hanging back more from traffic you can slow down simply by letting the weight of the car stop the vehicle and this will mean it’s longer before you need a car service to replace or repair the brake shoes.
Drive in the Right Gear: Driving in the right gear means that you won’t be revving the engine so much, so try to listen out to the sounds your car makes and respond to them. Pay attention to gradients and other things which could affect the right gear to be in.

There are many people who are in need. No matter how much they try to help themselves, they could not catch the break they desperately need. For this reason, fundraising events have been established in order for others to offer their help in any way they can. Planning these events with causes can be highly challenging but rewarding at the same time. It is important to know the basic elements in which to make any fundraising event a success.
Not everyone in the world will have the same passion you have for the cause. However, it is certain that there is a considerable amount of people who have the same views as yourself. It is therefore important to know what type of persons you need to approach in order to seek donations or volunteers. No fundraising event will push through without the assistance of volunteers and the donations of generous individuals.
No single person can successfully plan and implement a fundraising event. For this reason, it is important to seek the help of volunteers and donors to aid in its planning stages. Whenever you seek help from others, keep in mind to make the purpose of the fundraising event easily understandable. In addition to this, it is essential to be personally involved with the cause. Creating a fundraising event just because you want other people to think that you care is highly selfish and irresponsible. You have to invest your time, effort and even emotions to make this cause heard and cared for.
It is also important to be highly organized in planning and implementing a fundraising event. Every single detail should be given equal attention to make certain that nothing is left unprepared or relatively half-baked, so to speak. With the aid of the numerous volunteers who have given their time and effort for the cause, these people will be essential in helping you plan for the fundraising event. Make yourself readily available to these people in order to give instructions and a source of motivation. After each fundraising event, remember to personally and formally thank all those who have helped in making it a success.
Fundraisers are essentially noble events that are brought about by legitimate causes. Planning and implementing these events are indeed stressful and tasking. However, it is important to never forget the real reason for these events. In the end, all the hard work and manpower put into it will be worth it since you, your volunteers and donors are now able to truly make a significant improvement in other peoples’ lives. Click here for a great fundraising company.

As we find ourselves in a compromised economy, more and more people are searching for ways to either replace or supplement their income, and you find yourself in the Dallas area of Texas, then you may seriously want to consider looking into becoming a dj. Djs can make great money, and they typically only work weekends, so you wouldn’t need to quit your day job. If you pursue this line of work, however, you may just find that it will quickly replace your current salary as djs tend to make anywhere from $800-$2000 per gig – not bad for half a day’s work. Here are some steps you should take if you are interested in becoming a dj:
1) Shadow Another DJ
This shouldn’t be hard to do. Simply call some local djs and let them know that you are interested in becoming a dj sometime in the future and that you would like to volunteer your time to helping them out. This would be an ideal trade off both for you and the dj because he is getting free help, and you are getting valuable knowledge of what being a dj entails.
2) Apply To DJ Companies
Once you have some experience under your belt shadowing a dj or two, now it is time to apply for an actual dj job. The great thing about working for another company before you start to venture out on your own is that they will provide the clients and the equipment. This will allow you to get some real experience as a dj and hone your skills. You can find dj companies by doing a simple search online or by going to party directory sites like PartyPop.
3) Venture Out On Your Own
So, once you’ve got some experience under your belt, you might consider venturing out on your own, and there are two main reasons for this. First of all, you will make much more money working for yourself as oppose to working for someone else. You just want to make sure you have the right equipment and a good looking website. Furthermore, you will be building a brand name and reputation for you instead of the company that is employing you. Before doing this also need to make sure that you have a healthy marketing strategy in place.

A sociopath may be defined as a person who acts in antisocial or asocial ways. This means that sociopaths are often selfish, insensitive to the feelings of others, aggressive, unsociable, and sometimes even harmful. It goes without saying that sociopaths find it difficult to forge close and meaningful relationships – so what happens when a sociopath has children? This is a question that psychologists have been examining for a long time, and although opinions differ, some of the characteristics of sociopathic parenting are easily identifiable. What is sociopathic parenting? Read on to learn more.
Lack of commitment. These days, it seems that many parents are from the "me" generation. They see having a child as a sacrifice – a loss of self. Because of this perception, they expend more effort finding childcare than they do figuring out ways to stay home with baby, and they sometimes even prioritize their child’s needs and wants below their own. A sociopathic parent exhibits this lack of commitment to caring for children.
Crying it out. Babies and children cry for a reason. Their cries are often the only method they have of relaying that something is wrong. Many advocates for the awareness of sociopathic parenting argue that the cry it out method (letting baby cry until he falls asleep) is a form of sociopathic parenting, as it is a way of not responding to baby’s needs.
Spanking. These days, there is a lot of debate over the effectiveness and long term effects of corporal punishment. Some argue that physically disciplining a child is not a form of discipline at all, but is rather just a culturally accepted form of violence. What is more antisocial than hitting another person? Therefore, spanking a child may be considered a characteristic of sociopathic parenting.
Children as property. Sociopathic parents may see their children merely as reflections of them, and may focus their parenting efforts on controlling their children and forcing them into a mold of the parent’s liking. This is an egocentric way of viewing other human beings, and falls within the realm of antisocial (or, sociopathic) behavior. It goes without saying that sociopathic parenting can have destructive and long-lasting effects on children.
Unfortunately, many of these characteristics of parenting are commonly practiced, and are even systematically perpetuated by groups who claim to be from "the old school" of child-rearing. It’s obvious that the best way to raise caring and socially responsible children is to be caring and socially responsible toward them. That’s where sociopathic parenting falls painfully short.

Montessori schools are a revolutionary and delicate concept that allows students to learn at their own pace and in their own way. Through the use of some basic discipline, independence and the natural curiosity that nearly all children have, a Montessori school can be an excellent learning tool that gives children a boost versus more traditional educational methods. However, all schooling does not end in the classroom, and must be encouraged at home in as many ways as possible. The following are a few ways you can make the experience a more robust and complete one.
Stress Independence
Independence is a sadly missing component of much of the educational system. As a student is forced to learn this and that, the entire notion of learning at all can become a serious turn off for many of them. While learning itself is a natural part of being a creature with a functional brain, a lot of times the crutch of “being taught” is too much stress for a child to take. This is why so many adults have an aversion to school, and even to learning in and of itself. The good news is that the technique of encouraging your child to be independent in general lends itself to having the intellectual space to learn through creative pursuits and in unique ways.
Because of this natural tendency of space to encourage learning, give your kids some room to explore. Don’t try to micromanage their schedules or “teach” them with the kind of pressure many well meaning but overzealous parents put on.
Encourage Learning
When you encourage your children to learn by rewarding it somehow, even if it’s only through praise, you will be setting up trends that will continue into the classroom and beyond. While it might sound “too easy” to praise your children when they read a book or learn a new skill on their own, it can send a powerful message that will stick to your child for the rest of his or her life. These kinds of lessons are extremely powerful.
Support Individual Responsibility
When you encourage your child to be responsible for his or her own actions, you are teaching them the most fundamental rule of adult life. Every action has consequences, and almost all have both good and bad elements to them. When your child understands that everything has consequences, they will start to understand that learning is a necessary and often really great part of growing up.
Montessori schools aren’t perfect, but they do carry some great lessons. Some of these lessons are things parents need to learn about raising their kids to be active learners. With a good start, a child can grow up to be extremely successful.
About the Author: Son Fetcher works for a group of New York tutors and is skilled in a wide variety of learning techniques and styles. He finds that incorporating a few Montessori strategies into each of his client routines tends to help students open up and appreciate learning a little bit more.

Considering how to plan a funeral before death is a mature, practical decision that can make your passing one step less painful for loved ones, both emotionally and financially. Making decisions now will also ensure that your sendoff is a documented, often paid for funeral that you envision and not what a family has to figure out. When your wishes are left in someone else’s hands either by speculation or assumed verbal request, it has the potential to turn into a disaster. Whether it is a quiet farewell or a black-tie ballroom affair, have some peace of mind knowing that when you depart you will do so on your terms.
Locale
When it comes to planning a funeral before death the grand finale should be considered first. Therefore, determine the best place to finalize your remains. Traditional choices include a cemetery or mausoleum as well as a family plot. If these apply, choose the one that best suits you. If it is a local resting area it is most likely associated with your place of worship. Visit your church, synagogue, mosque or the like and inquire about the protocol of what would be expected in the event of your death regarding cost as well as restrictions. If your locale is more outlandish, such as spreading your cremated ashes, doing the same inquiry beforehand is essential especially when it comes to state law.
Shop Around
Funerals range between seven and fifteen thousand dollars for a modest sendoff. In some cases it can be considerably more especially if you want to include a restaurant in the plan. Many funeral homes will offer pre-paid packages which include a casket, gathering room and plot however this can be a very risky transaction due to popular scams, ownership change and more. Once you have compared various funeral homes and their pre-paid deals, request itemized billing of how your money will be spent. The FTC (Federal Trade Commission) requires full disclosure in writing. In addition, also according to the FTC, anything purchased, such as a coffin, outside your chosen funeral home cannot be rejected for use.
Last Wishes
Planning a funeral before death can also be included in your Will. Adding such details as to what you might want to be wearing if you are able to have an open casket; specific types of music you want played; flower arrangement desires; exact time and location(s) you may want your ashes scattered; even your own, personalized eulogy and/or obituary.
Digital Death
There are now websites that allow you to plan your own funeral right from your PC. These can make it even easier than having a loved one search through boxes of old notes or searching for a dusty Will. Once again, be sure and check the validity, legal and guarantee clause before paying for any such online service.
Determining how to plan your own funeral before death is a thoughtful, responsible last gesture that will be appreciated all around.
About the Author: Carey Loconte works for a funeral home and often helps people plan their funerals. She finds it is more common for the surviving spouse to plan a funeral once the process has been gone through for the deceased loved one. It is often easier to pick caskets and make other arrangements when the information is no longer, sadly, new.
