Simple Strategies to Maintain Healthy Blood Sugar Levels – Which You Haven’t Heard Before!
Well, whether you are diabetic or not, I do not need to tell you that diabetes is a very serious disease. What most people do not realize is that diabetes is something that affects nearly four hundred million people around the world; this includes adults and children. Among the struggles that diabetics face, one of the biggest ones is keeping a normal blood sugar level. Testing and re-testing blood sugar is something that most diabetics become all too familiar with. With this being said, many diabetics feel that this single issue seems to control their lives.
Well, I have got some encouraging news for you: the monitoring and of your blood sugar levels does not have to take over your life. There are a few simple, yet effective, strategies that you can implement that can really make a huge difference in the amount of work it takes to maintain those desired blood sugar levels, and here they are:
1) Add More Beans To Your Diet
At first thought, you might be thinking that I am joking, but I am totally serious. When it comes to digesting beans, your body takes longer to digest them than many other types of foods. “So what?” you might ask. Well, here is why beans are good for diabetics. Foods that digest more quickly have a more dramatic effect on your blood sugar levels whereas foods that take a little longer to digest, have less of an effect on your levels. Make sense? So, just eat more beans.
2) Add Some More Sleep To Your Life
It may sound funny that more sleep could help you to maintain those ideal blood sugar levels, but it’s true. This is according to research done by the University of Buffalo in New York. They claim that individuals who consistently got under seven hours of sleep were much more likely to have more volatile blood sugar levels than those who received 7-9 hours of sleep. Interesting huh?
3) Walk More
Simply walking more may not make a huge difference, but the few pounds that may lose as a result, just might. We all want to lose a few pounds, and simply adding some extra steps into your day may accomplish that quicker than you might think. Try and be proactive at taking stairs over elevators, escalators, and anything else that doesn’t require any physical exertion. You’ll see results without having to spend lots of money on a gym membership or even taking that much more time out of your day.
